Accessibility
Many presidents are not able to feel relatable and accessible to the american people. Some presidents though are relatable and accessible, these few presidents accomplish this through their 'normal' upbringing, or their service in the military. Accessibility is a huge thing because many American Citizens feel really distant from their president because they cannot relate to them. Few presidents have made citizens feel like they can relate to them, but the ones that did, really made an impact on the american people.
President George W. Bush
President George W. Bush, may not be considered one of the greatest presidents of our time, but he was definitely one of the most accessible. He was a very relatable guy, he was a normal guy who grew up in the back woods of Texas, and he did minimal service in our armed forces. President Bush was also relatable, because after Hurricane Katrina, he personally went to ground zero and talked to many victims personally and gave them direct federal aid. He was definitely human as well, he had many slip up, but that just showed America that is a human like you and I.
President Barack Obama
President Barack Obama is a very relatable president to many americans today. He is young, and he is african american president. When President Obama was elected, it truly proved that the american dream is truly possible. President Obama is very relatable because is young, fit and african american, because not millions of americans truly feel like they can relate to the president.
President Franklin Delano Roosevelt
President Roosevelt was a very accessible, relatable president. The thing that set FDR so accessible was his "Fireside Chats" that he would hold once a week. He would hold a radio show so he can personally connect to Americans across the country. That really made President Roosevelt a really accessibly in a very struggling time in the Great Depression.
President Theodore Roosevelt
President Teddy Roosevelt, was a very accessible president because he was a very active in the armed forces before his presidential inauguration. He was part of the "Rough Riders," so during his presidency, he would constantly go and visit soldiers, and check up on them because he knew how tough it was to be in the military. He was one of the most accessible presidents because he was really close to many military personal in the country.
President Abraham Lincoln
President Abraham Lincoln was a very accessible president because he was constantly on the battle field personally socializing with soldiers. He was a very soft spoken gentleman who constantly would speak to everyone, republican or democrat. President Lincoln always was very relatable, because he was a family man who grew up in a log cabin in the back woods of Illinois.
